We decided that ComEd’s refrigerator recycling program could do more than replace old fridges – and the Icebox Derby was born. It’s a chance for girls across Chicagoland to turn recycled fridges into derby cars, and help them realize the possibilities of pursuing a career in STEM.
Our biggest obstacle:
Filling the stands with people, not just parents. A fan base as excited about the race as the
girls were to be in it.

So we challenged them to some dares on da gram.
We gave each team a voice, a personality and a reason for being.
