I write words for living, I love it. But being clever isn’t the craft anymore. It’s a prerequisite. Writers have to be agile, able to move with not only swiftness and speed—but pinpoint accuracy, in the dark, while wearing a blindfold and doing a handstand with two hands tied behind their back. I'm still working on that last one.

Places I've been
Leo Burnett
Senior Copywriter | August 2015 - present
I’ve written words for a lot of brands at Burnett. That includes but is not limited to Intel, P&G, Kellogg’s, ComEd, Altria, UnitedHealthcare, Cronos and any new business I can get my sanitized hands on. From annoying web banners to TV, I’ve had the pleasure of working with and learning from – the best, bar none.
Stand-Up Comic
2015 - Present

Writing comedy aligns with my favorite things in advertising; insights that lead to human truths that lead to humor. You couldn’t pay most people to get on a stage and tell jokes to strangers. I can’t get paid enough! But I love it, it’s the closest thing to Catholic confession I’ve ever gone to.

Lyft/Uber
Transporter of Civilians | May 2014 – July 2015

It was a great side gig for bouncing ideas off of complete strangers – if you’re into that kind of thing. I drove for about a year while building my book, walking dogs, and attending Chicago Portfolio School.
The Nielsen Company
Internal Communications Writer | June 2013 - May 2014

I made data sound sexy. I worked on a team that wrote internal news updates about current and upcoming projects, success stories, interviews, product launches and more for our platinum clients; P&G, Unilever, PepsiCo, Coke, Kraft, and Mondelez. It reminded me of my college newspaper days, minus my opinion column. I miss that column.
Altima Technologies
Freelance Writer / Web Design | January 2013 - June 2013

They needed a new brand identity and I wanted to work in the suburbs. Ok, the second part isn’t true. But while there I made them a killer new website, re-wrote all their digital content, wrote and produced product videos, and learned waaay too much about data center software. Not bad for a six-month stint.
Rega USA
Copywriter/Marketing Guru | November 2011 - December 2013

College Intern turned full-time marketing machine. My first gig out of college. I handled the bulk of their marketing for two products with radically different audiences in the realm of sales catalogs, trade show articles, social media posts, and email blasts.
